Ask me anything. I have this as a rental for a week. 5-speed, horrifically slow, and driving in El Salvador could be a post on itself (which I intend to write...)

Looks like it would pop if you poked it with a sharp stick.

Does it drift/hoon?

Will it hoon?

Mitsubishi needs to sell it up here!

I honestly haven't tried yet as I haven't been out on any good dirt roads and it's been mainly carrying 3 other passengers including myself, but considering it has 2 hi, 4 hi, and 4 lo, I'm guessing it'll do some stuff. Also the body roll is ridiculous so anything stupid might result in a tip over...

Haven't tried yet, and honestly I'm a bit afraid of the body-roll being an issue with that.

I agree! I have no idea why they gave this thing such a crappy wheel and tire combo. Looks supremely awkward.

Also if you look at the body/cabin area looks like its inflated.

It wouldn't sell in the USA. HORRIFICALLY under-powered, it would need at least a V6 and a lot more amenities to be competitive. I have never seen such bad turbo "lag" in a car. Outside of the boost threshold the car literally will not move, so you have to be shifting allllllll the time.

Stop in the dirt/gravel, turn wheel, engage 1st, hammer it. Donuts are close enough to real hooning.

Yep, a very strange looking car indeed.

I'll report back. So far all the roads I've encountered, real live people are walking all over them. Haven't driven on any actual dirt yet.

Yeah, but this is a small truck, right? Like the size of a Colorado?
![]() 11/24/2014 at 22:58 |

It looks so sad. I is veeeeery clear it wasn't intended for American market. Most American truck buyers would call it a truck for tree hugging hemp wearing lesbian hippies
![]() 11/24/2014 at 23:36 |

Yes. Very similar size.

Turbo'd 4D56?

i've driven a few of these (i use to work at Mitsubishi/Holden dealer) , and they were quite powerful?

134 bhp isn't unusually low as pick ups go - the 3 litre Hilux is only 160 odd and most users seem to find that enough.
The styling is another matter though.

yep.
![]() 11/25/2014 at 13:29 |

as an American, this thing is anemically slow.
![]() 11/25/2014 at 13:30 |

they released some later ones with like 50 or 60 more hp but this one is horrifically slow.

Well, if there was a demand for more go they'd probably supply it.
Depends on what your market is. If I go down to my local Ford dealer I won't find an F series pickup because the market for petrol engined, automatic pickups could be counted on the fingers of one hand that's had a nasty accident.
Similarly the market for a diesel, manual Hilux, L200 or whatever in America is presumably nil.

Then 134hp is plenty. How much torque is there?
![]() 11/25/2014 at 19:12 |

I don't know, but i'm saying from my point of view, this car is anemically slow.
